Principal Secretary Sonmoni Borah Expresses Displeasure Over Water and Sanitation Issues at Eklavya Model Residential School, Orders Improvements Within a Week

The Principal Secretary of the ST and SC Development Department, Chhattisgarh, Sonmoni Borah, conducted a surprise inspection of the Eklavya Model Residential School in Paladikhurd, Sakti district, on Saturday. During the inspection, he expressed dissatisfaction with the inadequate arrangements for drinking water and sanitation at the school. Upon learning that the water cooler on campus had been out of service for 15 days, Borah instructed that all arrangements, including water and sanitation, be rectified within a week. He emphasized that the hostel and school must prioritize providing quality education and facilities to the students.



Borah also directed that two teachers be assigned rotational duties to oversee and address issues related to sanitation and other deficiencies at the school. He urged all present teachers and students to conserve electricity by turning off lights and fans when not in use in classrooms and residential areas. Additionally, he instructed that the residential quarters allocated to government teachers, which had been illegally occupied by former staff, be vacated and reassigned to newly appointed teachers and staff, with priority given to women and those with families.

Borah inspected the ongoing construction of the auditorium on campus and expressed dissatisfaction with the slow progress. He instructed that action be taken against encroachments on the school premises in accordance with the rules. He also stressed the importance of proper arrangements for both indoor and outdoor games and directed that high-quality sports equipment be made available to the students.

While interacting with the students in their classrooms, Borah inquired about the facilities and the subjects being taught. He encouraged the students to study diligently and pursue careers in fields of their interest, such as science, civil services, medicine, engineering, law enforcement, and the arts. He also directed the principal to ensure the quality of education, cleanliness, drinking water, and residential arrangements at the school, and to conduct regular health check-ups for the students.



Borah called on all principals, administrative officers, staff, and teachers to diligently fulfill their responsibilities and work together as a team to create a conducive environment for the students’ growth. Present during the inspection were Assistant Commissioner of the Tribal Development Department and Joint Collector Dushyant Rayast, Sakti SDM Arun Som, Tehsildar Vidya Bhushan Sao, Mandal Nirikshak Mayank Chandra, Principal Manoj Yadav, and other school staff and officials.

Later, Borah planted a mango sapling as part of the “Ek Ped Maa Ke Naam” (A Tree in Mother’s Name) campaign. He encouraged all officials, employees, and teachers at the school to engage in extensive planting activities.
