Raipur: A youth’s murder in Raipur’s Ashwani Nagar area took a sharp turn when police detained four juveniles, including one who had been released from a juvenile remand home just days earlier after being held in a robbery case.
The incident was reported late on Sunday night when Purani Basti police received information around 11pm that a youth, identified as Ahmad, was lying severely injured on a street in the Ashwani Nagar area. A police team rushed to the spot and shifted him to AIIMS Raipur, where doctors declared him brought dead.
Senior police officers inspected the crime scene and launched an investigation. During the probe, police received specific information that the suspects were allegedly trying to flee the city by train. The police then coordinated with the Railway Protection Force (RPF) to track their movement.
The joint team intercepted three suspects at Bilaspur railway station, while the fourth was detained in Raipur.
Preliminary investigation suggested that the murder stemmed from personal enmity. All four suspects detained by police are juveniles in conflict with the law.
The fact that one of the juveniles had returned from a juvenile remand home only a few days before the murder has emerged as a significant aspect of the investigation. He had been detained in connection with a robbery case before his alleged involvement in the latest crime.
Police are conducting further interrogation and legal proceedings in the case.
