Durg police arrest two for running mule accounts in multi-state cyber fraud

Raipur
The Supela police arrested two persons in connection with a multi-state cyber fraud operation involving mule bank accounts, taking the total number of arrests in the case to 21.
Police identified the arrested individuals as Aman Kumar Rai (24), a resident of Umarpoti in Utai, and Domendra Kumar Sinha (38), a resident of Chingri Para in Supela. Both accused were produced in court and sent to judicial custody.
The action followed financial data analysis provided by the Union Ministry of Home Affairs through its Sam समन्वय portal. Investigations revealed that several Bandhan Bank accounts registered under the Supela police station jurisdiction were being used to channel funds stolen through cyber fraud across multiple states.
During the probe, police examined bank records, gathered technical evidence, and recorded statements from bank personnel. Investigations led to the registration of a case against 172 Bandhan Bank account holders for knowingly receiving defrauded money to earn illegal profits.
Police registered the case under Crime No. 679/2026 under Sections 318(2), 318(3), and 318(4) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS). Officers seized bank passbooks from the accused during the operation. Nineteen other accused were arrested earlier in connection with the scam.
The Durg police issued an advisory cautioning citizens against allowing third parties to use their bank accounts, ATM cards, or UPI handles. Officials warned that sharing banking details or facilitating transactions for unknown persons makes account holders liable for legal action. Citizens were advised to report any suspicious financial activity to the police immediately.
