PWD blacklists 6 contractors over delayed Bastar road, bridge projects

Raipur

The Public Works Department (PWD) has blacklisted six contractors and barred the renewal of their registrations following severe delays in road and bridge construction projects across the Bastar region. The state government has also cancelled the registrations of two firm owners after repeated default on contractual terms.

To safeguard its administrative decision against legal challenges, the Chhattisgarh government filed a caveat in the Bilaspur High Court.

According to the order issued by the Engineer-in-Chief’s office, the actions follow persistent negligence, breach of contract terms, and failure to meet construction timelines despite multiple notices, extensions, and self-submitted affidavits by the contractors.
