Chakradharnagar police detained three minors on Monday afternoon after a Class 9 student was stabbed inside a government school in Raigarh.
According to police, six to seven external boys scaled the boundary wall of Government Higher Secondary School, Chakradharnagar, during the lunch break. The group called the 16-year-old student out of his classroom.
Two boys from the group attacked him with a knife-like weapon and fled from the spot. The student sustained injuries below his waist.
After the incident, school management alerted the police. Chakradharnagar SHO Inspector Rakesh Mishra reached the school with a police team. Police examined the CCTV footage installed on the school premises and identified two boys involved in the attack.
During questioning, the duo revealed the involvement of another boy who was present during the assault. Police subsequently traced and detained three minors by late evening.
Preliminary investigation revealed that the victim and accused were friends, but a previous dispute led to the assault.
The injured student is undergoing treatment at Raigarh District Hospital, where doctors said his condition is stable.
Police have registered an FIR based on a written complaint submitted by the school principal. Meanwhile, search operations are underway to trace the remaining boys allegedly involved in the incident.
