RAIPUR: The Chhattisgarh unit of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) will launch a month-long ‘Seva Sankalp Abhiyan’ across the state from September 17 to mark Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s completion of 25 years in public life, spanning his tenure as Gujarat chief minister and subsequent years as Prime Minister.
Announcing the campaign at a press conference in Raipur, Deputy Chief Minister Vijay Sharma said a series of public outreach programmes, cultural events, youth initiatives and exhibitions would be organised across the state from September 17 to October 17.
Chief Minister Vishnu Deo Sai has directed administrative officials and party workers to ensure the successful implementation of programmes planned across the state, Sharma said.
The campaign will begin on September 17 with ‘Aashirwad Ka Diya’, under which the BJP plans to light 36 lakh lamps across Chhattisgarh, with a target of 100 lamps at each polling booth.
Among the major programmes lined up is the ‘Seva Jyoti Yatra’ on October 7. Torch rallies will be organised from different locations and culminate at district headquarters, where participants will watch a live address by Prime Minister Modi on LED screens.
The BJP will also organise a ‘Vadnagar to Varanasi Youth Yatra’, tracing Modi’s political journey from Vadnagar to Varanasi. The yatra will pass through several states and districts, including Kawardha and Koriya in Chhattisgarh, as part of the youth outreach programme.
Another key event will be the ‘Jan Sevak Mahakumbh’, which will bring together elected representatives from across the state, from panchayat ward members to Members of Parliament.
The campaign will also feature ‘Seva Ke Rang’ and ‘Seva Mera Yogdan’, comprising theme-based rangoli competitions, social service activities and public exhibitions.
Under ‘25 Saal Ki 25 Kahaniyan’, the party will showcase 25 major policy decisions, infrastructure projects and achievements associated with Modi’s tenure. These will include the abrogation of Article 370, Chenab Bridge, Atal Tunnel and establishment of the National Forensic Sciences University, among other initiatives.
State BJP general secretary Yashwant Jain, vice-president G. Venkat and party leaders Ambikesh Kesari, Amit Sahu and Rahul Tikariya were also present at the press conference.
Reacting to criticism by state Congress president Deepak Baij over the functioning of the state government, Sharma said the Vishnu Deo Sai-led administration was working with a clear direction and focus.
