Chhattisgarh tightens regulations on cattle smuggling: Licenses required, strict penalties provisioned

Strict action will now be taken against those involved in cattle smuggling in Chhattisgarh. A new regulation has been issued regarding this. Deputy Chief Minister and Home Minister, Vijay Sharma, stated that license for the transportation of cattle must be obtained. A sign must be placed on the vehicle indicating that animals are being transported.If illegal transportation is detected, the vehicle will be seized, and the property of those involved in illegal transportation will be confiscated.



The Home Minister also mentioned that there will be a penalty of 7 years imprisonment and a fine of Rs 50,000. However, both of these provisions were already included in the Agricultural Animal Preservation Act of 2004.Instructions have been issued from the Police Headquarters. To grant licenses, nodal officers will be designated.Sharma explained that nodal officers will be appointed to issue licenses. Their contact numbers will be displayed in public places at every police station so that people can report illegal transportation. The Home Minister said that according to the new regulations, illegal transportation of cattle will be a cognizable offense and will be non-bailable.
