The Chhattisgarh government has handed over the Mahadev Betting App case to the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI). A notification to this effect has been issued by the state govt.
A total of 70 cases have been registered related to the Mahadev Betting App. All these cases have been transferred to the CBI, and a notification has been issued. This information was provided by Deputy Chief Minister and Home Minister Vijay Sharma.
The Home Minister stated, “There were 70 cases registered concerning the Mahadev App. There was also a case with the EOW. This matter spans multiple states, and it is reported that some key accused are abroad. Considering all these aspects, all the cases have been handed over to the CBI. The CBI will now investigate this matter seriously and take strict action. Efforts will be made to bring back those involved who are currently abroad. So far, the ED has arrested 11 people in this case.”
The ED has been investigating the money laundering case connected to the Mahadev App for approximately 16 months. During the Congress government’s tenure in the state, the ED alleged that senior politicians and bureaucrats were involved in protecting the syndicate. According to the ED, the estimated income related to this case is around Rs 6,000 crore. Besides the ED and EOW, SEBI is also investigating the Mahadev App case. The ED’s chargesheet revealed that Mahadev Betting App promoters Saurabh Chandrakar, Ravi Uppal, and Shubham Soni have invested more than Rs 1,000 crore of black money from betting into the stock market. The Securities and Exchange Board of India (SEBI) is investigating this matter.
In connection with the money laundering case related to the Mahadev App, the ED has so far filed three prosecution complaints (chargesheets) in the Raipur court. The ED has also conducted several raids in the state earlier. The ED previously stated that its investigation into the Mahadev online gaming and betting app has revealed the involvement of several high-ranking politicians and bureaucrats in Chhattisgarh. The two main promoters of the app, Saurabh Chandrakar and Ravi Uppal, are from Chhattisgarh. So far, the ED has arrested a total of 11 people in this case.
The Mahadev Betting App is designed for betting. Users play live games such as poker, card games, and games of chance on this platform. Illegal betting is also conducted through the app on games like cricket, badminton, tennis, football, and even elections. The network of illegal betting spread rapidly through the app, with the majority of accounts being opened in Chhattisgarh.
