Chhattisgarh CM orders special health camps after five baiga tribals die from diarrhoea

Raipur: Chief Minister Vishnudeo Sai has directed officials to organize these special health check-up camps. The Chief Minister has taken stock of the situation from Minister Vijay Sharma and the officials of Kabirdham after the death of five Baiga tribals due to diarrhoea.In fact, due to malaria, diarrhoea, and contaminated drinking water, various diseases are spreading in the settlements of the Baiga tribals. This situation prevails among the tribals living in the forested areas of Chilfi, Jhalmala, and Taregaon. People are falling ill. The situation is dire in Sonvahi village, where five Baiga tribals have died.Home Minister Vijay Sharma reviewed the facilities being provided to the Baiga tribals. Following these deaths, a political uproar has ensued, prompting significant action. Chief Minister Sai has instructed ensuring that all health centers have an adequate stock of life-saving drugs. Deputy Chief Minister Vijay Sharma has ordered the immediate procurement of a sonography machine for government hospitals in the forest areas of Chilfi, Jhalmala, and Taregaon from the DMF funds. The Deputy Chief Minister also inspected the temporary health camp at the tribal boys’ hostel in Sonvahi village and spoke with the patients.District Collector Janmejay Mahobe stated that Sonvahi village has 194 houses with a total population of 580. The village has 12 wells and 2 hand pumps. One ANM is also active here. He mentioned that continuous health examinations of villagers are being conducted upon detecting symptoms. On July 11, 194 people were examined, out of which 8 were admitted to the sub-health center due to poor health, including 7 with symptoms of seasonal fever and 1 with vomiting.Similarly, on July 12, health examinations of 144 people were conducted, out of which 12 showed symptoms of seasonal cold and fever and were admitted to the community health center in Jhalmala. Health check-ups in the area are ongoing. In the past 7 days, 5 Baiga tribals have died. Congress leader and former CM Bhupesh Baghel claimed that all deaths were due to severe vomiting and diarrhea. However, the district administration stated that the causes of death were different.Former CM Bhupesh Baghel visited Sonvahi village on Saturday. He stated that there is significant negligence by the health staff here. Baiga tribals are considered the adopted sons of the President. We will write a letter to the President about these conditions. This issue will also be raised in the Assembly. The Congress has formed an inquiry committee under the leadership of MLA Daleshwar Sahu. Congress leaders will inspect the affected areas and prepare a public report.
