Union Home Minister Amit Shah launched the “People for Peepal” campaign at the under-construction New Assembly Complex in Nava Raipur on Sunday. During the event, he inaugurated various development projects under the Smart City scheme, including a railway station, smart roads, parking facilities, and smart schools, with a total investment of Rs 204.84 crore. The event was presided over by Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Vishnudeo Sai. Other dignitaries present included Chhattisgarh Assembly Speaker Dr. Raman Singh, Deputy Chief Ministers Arun Sao and Vijay Sharma, Finance Minister O.P. Choudhary, Forest Minister Kedar Kashyap, Food Minister Dayal Das Baghel, Sports and Youth Welfare Minister Tank Ram Verma, MP Brijmohan Agrawal, and several other legislators and senior officials.
Planting of 100,000 Trees Under the “Ek Ped Maa Ke Naam” campaign, the “People for Peepal” program in Nava Raipur Atal Nagar aims to plant over 100,000 large trees of native species. Currently, more than 21,000 Peepal trees have already been planted. The goal of Nava Raipur Atal Nagar is to ensure that a Peepal tree is visible from any location in the city.
In the Bhagavad Gita, Lord Krishna mentioned the Peepal tree, stating, “Among trees, I am the Peepal.” The Peepal tree is known for its longevity, living for over 100 years, and for providing life-sustaining oxygen 24 hours a day. As part of the program, a mobile app has been launched to engage youth and facilitate virtual adoption under the “Ek Ped Maa Ke Naam” campaign. Over 2,000 people have already participated in this initiative.
Railway Station, Smart Roads, Parking A railway station has been constructed in the heart of Nava Raipur Atal Nagar as part of the railway line connecting the city to other urban centers. The station has been developed at a cost of Rs 75 crores. The Nava Raipur Development Authority is also constructing four additional railway stations. A 5.3-kilometer stretch of smart roads and other necessary infrastructure has been built at a cost of Rs 35.25 crores. Additionally, parking facilities accommodating 100 buses, 148 cars, taxis, and around 250 two-wheelers have been developed at a cost of Rs 23.12 crores.
\World-Class Smart School In Rakhi village
\A world-class higher secondary school has been constructed at a cost of Rs 18 crore, providing advanced educational facilities and a large multi-purpose auditorium. This school will offer a world-class learning environment to over 1,200 students. To ensure quality education for children from economically weaker families, a building has been constructed at a cost of Rs 11 crore, benefiting 950 students. Primary and secondary schools in 11 villages of Nava Raipur Atal Nagar have been upgraded at a cost of Rs 10.35 crores, providing a better educational environment for approximately 4,300 students.
Land Conservation and Tree Plantation In the horticulture sector, Rs 16 crore have been allocated for water conservation, the rejuvenation of streams and ponds, and tree planting near the Secretariat. Additionally, to enhance the groundwater level through the development of natural rainwater streams, Rs 16.12 crores have been spent on necessary works, including the construction of new ponds and tree plantations.
