Raigarh: Demonstrating compassion and prompt action, Raigarh Police successfully reunited a mentally distressed missing woman with her family after tracing her within 24 hours.
According to police, at around 4 pm on July 1, the Dial-112 Emergency Response Team received information about a woman wandering near Sri Sai Heritage in Dhimrapur. Local residents reported that she was asking for directions to Sakti and appeared to be mentally unstable. The Dial-112 team immediately reached the spot and safely brought her to the Kotwali Police Station.
During questioning, the woman could only reveal her name and repeatedly expressed her desire to go to Sakti. She was unable to recall her home address or provide any contact details of her family. To ensure her safety, the police accommodated her at the Sakhi Centre for the night.
Kotwali Police Station In-charge Inspector Sukhnandan Patel circulated the woman’s photograph across various social media groups in an effort to identify and locate her family. On Thursday morning, her family members arrived at the Kotwali Police Station to file a missing person report. After seeing the photograph, they immediately identified her.
The family informed the police that the woman is a resident of Raigarh, while her in-laws live in Sakti. She had been staying at her parents’ home for a few days and had left without informing anyone due to her medical condition.
After completing all legal formalities, the police handed the woman over to her family members. The family expressed their heartfelt gratitude to the Raigarh Police for their timely assistance.
Senior Superintendent of Police Shashi Mohan Singh said that the responsibility of the police extends beyond crime control and includes providing support and assistance to every citizen in need.
The rescue team comprised Inspector Sukhnandan Patel, Assistant Sub-Inspector Koso Singh Jagat, Woman Constable Anita Beck, Dial-112 Constable Edward Kujur, and the Emergency Response Vehicle (ERV) driver.
