Bilaspur civic body removes footpath encroachments, collects ₹25,000 in fines

Bilaspur
Bilaspur Municipal Corporation on Thursday cleared several illegal footpath encroachments and collected ₹25,000 in fines from violators during a drive carried out across major commercial stretches of the city.

Action was taken following instructions from Municipal Commissioner Prakash Kumar Sarvey. A joint team from Zone-4 and the anti-encroachment cell cleared illegal structures, shop displays, and makeshift stalls along the stretch from Vyapar Vihar to Maharana Pratap Chowk.

Offenders obstructing pedestrian movement were removed, fined on the spot, and warned against repeat violations. A similar anti-encroachment exercise was also conducted in the Brihaspati Bazar area.

Civic officials said continuous monitoring will be maintained to ensure footpaths remain clear and accessible for pedestrians.

Emphasising the priority of keeping public walkways clear, Municipal Commissioner Prakash Kumar Sarvey instructed officials to prevent any re-encroachment on footpaths across major markets and busy roads in the city. He stated that strict action and penalties will continue against violators.
