Teenager Beaten to Death During Drinking Party in Raigarh Village, 3 Arrested

Raipur: Raigarh police have solved the murder case of a 16-year-old boy whose body was found under a banyan tree in Gurda village under the Kharsia police station limits. Police have arrested three accused, including a minor, in connection with the brutal killing.
The accused have been identified as Chandrashekhar alias Chanda Dansena (22) from Barbhona village, Raghusingh alias Raghunath Rathiya (30) from Behramuda village, and a 16-year-old juvenile. All three were produced before a local court and sent to judicial custody.
Body Found Under Banyan Tree
The case came to light on May 25 after police received information about an unidentified body lying beneath a banyan tree in the Dongarmuda Khar field area of Gurda village. A police team along with forensic experts and a dog squad reached the spot and began an investigation.
The deceased was later identified as a resident of Barbhona village under the Chhal police station area. According to the victim’s elder brother, the teenager had left home on the morning of May 24 with local resident Rishi Dansena on a motorcycle but never returned.
The family found the body the next morning with serious injury marks on the chest and near the eyes.
Post-Mortem Confirmed Murder
The post-mortem report confirmed that the boy had been murdered. Following this, Kharsia police registered a case under Section 103(1) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) against unknown persons.
Fight Broke Out Over Mangoes for ‘Chakhna’
During questioning, Rishi Dansena told police that he had left the teenager with the accused before going to work. Later, when he called Chandrashekhar, he allegedly heard sounds of a violent scuffle over the phone and asked them to stop fighting.
Police detained the suspects and, during interrogation, the accused confessed to the crime. They revealed that all of them were consuming alcohol together when an argument erupted over plucking mangoes for ‘chakhna’ (snacks served with liquor).
The dispute quickly turned violent, and the trio allegedly assaulted the teenager mercilessly. During the attack, the boy slipped from a field ridge toward a pond and suffered fatal injuries.
Body Shifted to Make It Look Like an Accident
To hide the crime, the accused shifted the body beneath the banyan tree in an attempt to make the death appear accidental. They later lied to Rishi Dansena, claiming the teenager had gone home after dinner.
Police later recreated the crime scene with the accused and seized their clothes based on disclosure statements. Authorities have also added Sections 238 and 3(5) of the BNS related to destruction of evidence and common intention.
Raigarh Senior Superintendent of Police Shashi Mohan Singh has directed officials to ensure strict action against violent crimes and speedy examination of evidence.
