Three-member committee formed to probe Ratanpur cases, SP Santosh Singh line attached Ratanpur SHO

Superintendent of Police, Bilaspur, Santosh Singh has line attached the station house officer of Ratanpur police station and constituted a three member committee to investigate the sequence of events in the rape of a minor girl and molestation of nine-year-old boy.
“Taking a serious note of the cases and ensure a fair investigation, I have line attached the SHO Krishnakant Singh and subsequently constituted a committee comprising ASP (rural) Rahul Dev Sharma, Kota SDOP Siddharth Baghel and Inspector Parivesh Tiwari. The committee will submit its report within a week,” said the SP.
Meanwhile, local residents and traders accompanies by several organisations observed a bandh in Ratanpur and the bandh went off peacefully.
Sources said that some people broke open the main gate of the house of the rape accused during the bandh, creating tension in the area.
The police force is making constant efforts to pacify the protestors. ASP Rajendra Jaiswal reached Ratanpur to calm the situation.
The bandh was observed to protest the jail term of a middle-aged woman whose daughter was raped by a youth namely Aftab in Ratanpur. The arrest was made on the basis of a counter complaint against the rape victim’s mother who allegedly molested a nine-year-old boy. The boy along with his family members lodged a complaint with the police against the woman.
The woman who is a widow and her daughter claimed that they are being trapped as they did not compromise the case. The rape accused is also in jail under POCSO Act.
