RAIPUR
The Indian women’s kabaddi team defended its title at the 20th Asian Games in Aichi-Nagoya, Japan, securing the gold medal with a 37-34 victory over Iran in the final. This marks India’s fourth gold medal in women’s kabaddi at the Asian Games and the country’s third gold at the current edition of the Games.
Sanju Devi from Chhattisgarh was part of the winning squad. Chhattisgarh Olympic Association secretary general Dr. Vikram Singh Sisodia was present at the venue during the match.
Following the victory, Dr. Sisodia facilitated a telephonic conversation between Sanju Devi, Chief Minister Vishnu Deo Sai, and Vidhan Sabha Speaker Dr. Raman Singh. Both leaders congratulated Sanju Devi and the Indian team on their performance.
Dr. Sisodia said the Chhattisgarh Olympic Association continues to work towards promoting sports and supporting athletes under the guidance of the Chief Minister. He added that witnessing the team win gold and hearing the national anthem played on foreign soil was a memorable moment for everyone present.
