5,000 Security Personnel Surround 300 Naxals in Major Operation in Chhattisgarh

Raipur.A massive anti-Naxal operation is underway in the border regions of Chhattisgarh, Telangana, and Maharashtra, with around 5,000 security personnel surrounding an estimated 300 Naxals in the hilly terrains of Karregatta, Nadpalli, and Pujari Kanker.
Sources confirm that several top Naxal leaders, including Hidma, Deva, and Vikas, along with members of the Dandakaranya Special Zonal Committee (DKSZCM), Divisional Committee Members (DVCM), and Area Committee Members (ACM), are present in the region.
Joint Operation Across Three States
Special units including Maharashtra’s C-60 commandos, Telangana’s Greyhounds, and Chhattisgarh’s District Reserve Guard (DRG) are involved in the operation. Troops are equipped with supplies sufficient to sustain them for at least a week.
Supply Chains Cut, Forces Tighten Grip
Naxals, who previously relied on supply routes through Nambi, Pujari Kanker, and Puvarti, are now facing severe shortages of food and water as these routes have been cut off by the security forces.
Difficult Terrain and Explosives Threat
The hilly terrain offers strategic advantage to the Naxals. Telangana cadre Shanta issued a press note warning civilians to avoid the Karregatta hills, claiming the area is heavily mined with IEDs. Climbing the steep 40-50 meter hills poses a major challenge for the forces, while Naxals hold the higher ground.
Surveillance and Bunker Networks
Security forces are using drones and 2–3 helicopters for surveillance. Reports suggest Naxals have constructed several bunkers and possess large stockpiles of weapons and ammunition in the region.
Mission 2026: Government’s Target to End Naxalism
Union Home Minister Amit Shah has reiterated the Centre’s goal to eliminate Naxalism from the country by March 31, 2026. Chhattisgarh Home Minister Vijay Sharma is monitoring the operation closely and receiving real-time updates, while constant coordination is maintained with the Centre.
Villagers Report Heavy Clashes
Residents near the operation zone have reported gunfire, helicopter movement, and IED explosions in the past 48 hours. While senior officers from Bastar have not officially confirmed details, Sukma SP Kiran Chavan has acknowledged that an operation is underway.
Naxals Push for Peace Talks Amid Pressure
Amid the operation, Naxals have distributed pamphlets calling for peace talks, which officials believe may be a tactical ploy to regroup. However, Home Minister Vijay Sharma has made it clear: the operation will continue, and Naxals have been urged to surrender immediately.
