To spur economic growth in villages affected by Maoist insurgency, CM Vishnudeo Sai announces ‘Niyad Nellanar Yojana’

Raipur
In an effort to spur economic growth in villages affected by Maoist insurgency, Chief Minister Vishnudeo Sai has introduced the ‘Niyad Nellanar Yojana’ (Your Good Village Scheme) in Chhattisgarh. Announced during the Assembly proceedings on Thursday, this initiative targets villages within a five-kilometer radius of 14 newly established camps in Maoist-affected regions.
Under this scheme, Chief Minister Sai outlined plans to provide 25 or more essential amenities to villagers, alongside access to 32 welfare programs. Villagers will be able to submit their applications through designated camps, streamlining the process. Additionally, an extra budget allocation of Rs 20 crore has been earmarked to support the scheme’s implementation.
Highlighting the scheme’s inclusivity, Chief Minister Sai assured similar benefits to those provided under the Prime Minister’s Jan Dhan Yojana for backward tribal communities. Furthermore, the newly established camps will serve not only as security outposts but also as hubs for development initiatives.
To ensure transparency and accountability, the government plans to set up a monitoring dashboard to track the scheme’s progress continuously. Chief Minister Sai stressed the scheme’s focus on expediting economic progress in these villages, leveraging the presence of the 14 new camps to extend the benefits of various welfare schemes.
Emphasizing the holistic development approach, Chief Minister Sai affirmed plans to address fundamental needs through infrastructural improvements and comprehensive family welfare programs. Villagers can expect a range of facilities, including housing assistance, ration cards, education, healthcare, and agricultural support, among others.
Implementation will commence with the collection of applications through public service camps, with on-the-spot verification procedures in place. Should the need arise, the government stands ready to provide additional funds from both central and state sources.
Former Minister and Konta MLA Kawasi Lakhma hailed the initiative, recognizing its potential to uplift tribal communities in Bastar. Lakhma urged attention to areas lacking in basic infrastructure, emphasizing their inclusion in the scheme’s development agenda.
