Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Vijay Agrawal felicitated officers and personnel on Friday for their role in the investigation of a murder and Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act case that culminated in a death sentence.
The special POCSO court in Durg sentenced the accused, Somesh Yadav, to death after the prosecution presented evidence collected through scientific and technical investigation methods.
SSP Agrawal commended the team members for their coordinated efforts in gathering forensic science laboratory (FSL) reports, DNA evidence, medical records, and technical data. The comprehensive evidence gathering proved critical in securing the capital punishment conviction before the court.
The officers felicitated at the ceremony included Additional Superintendent of Police (IUCAW) Padmashree Tanwar, Mohan Nagar Police Station In-charge Inspector Shivprasad Chandra, Women’s Police Station In-charge Inspector Shraddha Pathak, Cantonment Police Station In-charge Sub-Inspector Chetan Chandrakar, and Sub-Inspector Paras Thakur from Mohan Nagar police station.
Assistant Sub-Inspectors Rajendra Deshmukh and Sangeeta Mishra, along with personnel from Mohan Nagar police station and the Anti-Crime and Cyber Unit (ACCU) Durg, were also honoured.
Senior officials, including the Additional Superintendent of Police (City), Additional Superintendent of Police (Rural), and Deputy Superintendent of Police (Headquarters), attended the event.
Durg Police reiterated their commitment to teamwork, scientific investigation, and evidence-based policing to secure swift justice in severe criminal cases.
