Slain Maoist Chalapathi’s Father-in-Law Claims Government is Fighting Shadows, Reaches Raipur to Claim Body

Raipur

Lakshman Rao, the father-in-law of Chalapathi, a Naxalite killed in a recent encounter in Gariaband, Chhattisgarh, has arrived in Raipur to claim his son-in-law’s body. Despite the grief of losing his family member, Rao expressed confidence in his son-in-law’s cause and criticized the government’s approach to Naxalism.

Rao, who initially thought he would have to travel to Gariaband to claim the body, discovered that it had been brought to Raipur. He did not express sorrow over Chalapathi’s death and instead seemed confident in his son-in-law’s beliefs and actions.

He accused the government of fighting “shadows” and suppressing those who question the government’s actions. He also claimed that the government’s goal is to hand over forest lands to corporates.

Chalapathi was a top Naxalite leader with a Rs 1 crore bounty on his head. He was known for his expertise in guerrilla warfare and had been a member of the Naxalite central committee.

Chalapathi’s wife, Aruna, was also a Naxalite. The couple had been in a relationship since 2010, despite facing opposition from the organization initially.

Rao criticized the government’s deadline to end Naxalism and accused it of targeting those who speak out against issues like unemployment, inflation, and corruption.
