NH-53 Safety Project Approved: ₹108 Crore Plan to Build Service Lanes & Underpasses in Rajnandgaon to Curb Accidents

Rajnandgaon MLA and Assembly Speaker Dr. Raman Singh has launched a major infrastructure initiative to improve commuter safety on NH-53 between Somni and Chichola. The ₹108-crore project focuses on reducing road accidents through the construction of service lanes and vehicular underpasses.

Authorities have completed the tender process, and the project will cover several critical junctions to enhance traffic management and road infrastructure.

Project Breakdown and Allocation

  • Mundra Kunj to Transport Nagar bypass and Pendri underpass: ₹47 crore
  • Chichola, LB Nagar, and Dongargarh Road underpass and service roads: ₹27 crore
  • Maharajpur underpass and service roads: ₹22 crore
  • Sundra Dental College to Parri Nala (one-side service road): ₹7.8 crore
  • Somni village (Ira Mode and Khuteri Mode service roads): ₹4.78 crore

Dr. Raman Singh has also directed National Highways officials to conduct a survey and propose solutions for Ram Darbar Chowk to eliminate accident risks.

The project received approval following efforts by Dr. Raman Singh and Rajnandgaon MP Santosh Pandey. It is expected to ensure smoother traffic flow and enhanced safety for both local residents and highway commuters.

Expressing gratitude to Union Minister for Road Transport and Highways Nitin Gadkari, Dr. Raman Singh said that under the guidance of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, India has seen rapid expansion in road connectivity, with Chhattisgarh, especially Rajnandgaon, making significant progress in this sector.
