Raipur Municipal Corporation hikes fees for fairs and exhibitions

Raipur
Raipur Municipal Commissioner Vishwadeep issued an order on 24 April 2026 revising the entertainment tax rates for various public events. The new rates will be effective from 11 April 2026.

The decision is based on resolutions passed by the Mayor-in-Council (Resolution No. 23, dated 8 January 2026) and the General Council (Resolution No. 13, dated 10 April 2026).

Several existing rates remain unchanged:

  • Cinema screenings: ₹50 per show
  • Circuses: ₹100 per show
  • Magic shows: ₹200 per show
  • Mall cinema screenings: ₹600 per show

The civic body has clarified rules for Meena Bazaars, exhibitions, and trade or industrial fairs, where the base fee remains ₹500 per day.

A new surcharge has also been introduced for such events, as they occupy large land areas that previously did not generate revenue for the municipal corporation. Organisers will now have to pay an additional ₹500 per day for every 10,000 square feet of land used, whether the land is private or government-owned. The charge will increase proportionally with the area used.

However, government-organised exhibitions and events will be exempted from this surcharge.

The Municipal Commissioner has directed the concerned department to begin collection of fees as per the revised rates.
