Chief Minister Vishnu Deo Sai chaired a Cabinet meeting at Mahanadi Bhawan on Wednesday, where several key decisions were taken, including the disbursement of paddy price arrears to farmers.
The state government will pay approximately ₹10,000 crore to farmers under the Krishak Unnati Yojana before the Holi festival. This amount represents the difference between the Minimum Support Price (MSP) and the state’s promised rate of ₹3,100 per quintal. The payment will be made in a single installment.
Official data shows that 141.04 lakh metric tonnes of paddy were procured from 25,24,339 farmers during the Kharif Marketing Year 2025-26. The Chhattisgarh government currently procures 21 quintals per acre at ₹3,100 per quintal, which is stated to be the highest procurement rate in the country.
Over the past two years, the state has distributed more than ₹25,000 crore to farmers as price difference assistance under the scheme. With the upcoming ₹10,000 crore disbursement, the total payout will reach ₹35,000 crore.
The Cabinet also approved the draft of the Chhattisgarh Appropriation Bill, 2026 for presenting the Budget Estimates 2026-27 in the Legislative Assembly. Additionally, the Council of Ministers cleared the Governor’s Address for the Eighth Session of the Sixth Chhattisgarh Legislative Assembly, scheduled for February–March 2026.
