Senior tribal leader Nand Kumar Sai resigns from BJP

Veteran tribal leader and former Rajya Sabha MP Nand Kumar Sai has resigned from BJP on Sunday, providing a big jolt to the Chhattisgarh BJP ahead of assembly elections.
Sai, the prominent tribal face of BJP in Chhattisgarh, wrote to the party state president Arun Sao highlighting his pain he had been experiencing in the party for the last few years. “The party had been conspiring against me and framing me with false charges through my political rivalries to malign my image. I am very much hurt by the party’s conspiracy to defame me despite the fact I have honestly discharged whatever duties I have been given by the party. I have decided to quit the primary membership of the party as well as the other responsibilities,” Sai mentioned his letter to Sao.
Meanwhile, the development has come as a jolt the BJP ahead of the assembly elections in the state. The principal opposition of the state needs a tribal face which can drive tribal voters in its favour.
BJP state president Arun Sao said that he has received the resignation letter of Nand Kumar Sai. “Sai is a very senior leader of the party and he has been played a crucial role in carrying forward the party in Chhattisgarh. We tried to contact him, but could not contact. We will try to overcome the misunderstandings if there are any once we are able to contact him,” said Sao. Sai could not be reach for his comments despite repeated calls.
Nand Kumar Sai discharged the role of BJP Chhattisgarh president, leader of opposition and National Scheduled Tribe Commission chairman.
