Raipur: The Chhattisgarh Congress on Sunday began a three-day training camp for block Congress presidents and district master trainers of Raipur division, with senior party leaders holding sessions on the organisation’s ideology, history, social harmony and contemporary political issues.
The camp, being held at Pratishtha Mangalik Bhawan in Jora, is part of the party’s organisational training exercise aimed at strengthening its structure at the grassroots level. Similar training programmes have already been held in other divisions of the state, including Bastar, Durg and Surguja.
The inaugural session was attended by Pradesh Congress Committee president Deepak Baij, Leader of Opposition Charan Das Mahant, former deputy chief minister T S Singh Deo, former ministers Tamradhwaj Sahu and Mohan Markam, and former PCC president Dhanendra Sahu, among others.
Baij, in his address, stressed discipline during the three-day residential programme and said participants would be familiarised with the Congress’s organisational practices, policies and principles. He said subject experts would train the participants on various aspects during the camp.
Mahant congratulated the participants and described the training as an important opportunity in their political careers, urging them to make full use of the sessions.
The first day featured sessions by senior Congress leaders and trainers on a range of subjects. Former chief minister Bhupesh Baghel addressed participants on religion and secularism in contemporary politics, while T S Singh Deo spoke on Chhattisgarh government revenue and expenditure on welfare schemes.
Former minister Shiv Kumar Dahariya conducted a session on social harmony, while trainer Yugal Pandey spoke on the role of training and the significance of organisational creation. Ashok Chaturvedi addressed participants on the ideology and history of the Indian National Congress.
The Congress has been conducting the divisional training exercise to equip block-level functionaries and master trainers with organisational knowledge and responsibilities. Earlier programmes have focused on strengthening the party structure from the block to the booth level and improving coordination among functionaries.
The Raipur division camp is scheduled to continue for three days, with participants attending multiple sessions led by senior party leaders and subject experts.
