Major Success in Sukma: 17 Naxalites Killed, Large Cache of Weapons Seized, Government Aims for Peaceful Resolution, Says Deputy CM Sharma

Raipur
The anti-Naxal operation in Chhattisgarh has achieved another significant success. During a search operation conducted by security forces in the Kerala Pal Behna region of Sukma district, a fierce encounter took place in the early hours, resulting in the killing of 17 Naxalites. Security forces also seized a large cache of weapons, including SLRs, INSAS rifles, AK-47s, and country-made firearms.
Two security personnel sustained injuries during the operation but are out of danger. They have been taken to the district headquarters for immediate medical treatment and are being provided with the best possible care.
Meanwhile, Deputy Chief Minister Vijay Sharma congratulated the security forces on their success and highlighted that within just 85 days of 2025, a total of 133 Naxalites have been neutralized. He emphasized that this is a continuous effort, and over the past few years, approximately 2,700 Naxalites have either been killed, arrested, or have surrendered.
Sharma reiterated that the government does not wish to fire a single bullet and appeals to all Naxalites to surrender and join the mainstream under the rehabilitation policy. Those who surrender will receive full government support and an opportunity to lead a dignified life.
Deputy CM Sharma stated that the government aims to completely eliminate armed Naxalism by March 2026. He further outlined the government’s strategy, which includes accelerating development projects in Naxal-affected areas. Infrastructure expansion efforts are in full swing in districts like Bijapur, Sukma, and Narayanpur, covering roads, electricity, water supply, schools, hospitals, and communication facilities.
Sharma emphasised that those who choose to surrender are receiving full assistance from the government. However, stringent action will be taken against those who continue on the path of violence. The government’s commitment is clear—progress and peace, with the ultimate goal of completely eradicating Naxalism.
Under this policy, Naxalites have the option to surrender and embrace a secure life. However, if they refuse to abandon violence, strict measures will be taken against them.
