Chhattisgarh’s artist Rakesh Kumar Sahu shines bright at Kashi International Art Exhibition, Receives special accolade from UP Governor

Raipur: Uttar Pradesh Governor Anandiben Patel honoured Chhattisgarh’s Rakesh Kumar Sahu with a special award for his remarkable artistic talent at a programme organized in Varanasi on Thursday. Hearing-impaired Sahu is a student of the Government Divyang Mahavidyalaya located in Mana Camp, Raipur. This prestigious award was bestowed upon Sahu for his exceptional artwork in the field of painting, recognized during the Kashi International Art Exhibition and Competition organized by the Institute of Fine Arts, Varanasi.

Among the numerous artworks exhibited, seven artists representing both India and abroad were chosen for recognition and awards and two artists were chosen for the special awards. Rakesh Kumar Sahu’s painting, which shed light on grave issues such as poverty and hunger, captivated the attention of the judges, leading to his deserving selection for this esteemed accolade and acknowledgement.

The exhibition, inaugurated by Governor Anandiben Patel on June 22, will remain open for the public until June 23. It showcases artworks by several artists from India and abroad. Rakesh Kumar Sahu is a student of the Bachelor of Fine Arts at the Government Divyang Mahavidyalaya in Raipur, which is run by the Department of Social Welfare. A total of nine differently-abled students from the college have been selected to participate in the art exhibition. The selected students include Navin Verma, Praneet Sarkar, Shivlal Pudo, Dhanesh Patel, Paras Verma, Trilok Thakur, Pratap Gagde, Lingeshwar Patel, and Rakesh Sahu.
