Chhattisgarh police bust inter-state drug syndicate; 114 kg ganja worth ₹57 lakh seized
Raipur: Chhattisgarh Police on Wednesday busted an inter-state drug syndicate involved in smuggling 114 kg of ganja worth ₹57 lakh from Odisha to Maharashtra. Three accused were arrested during the operation at a checkpoint on National Highway-353 (NH-353) in Mahasamund district.
Acting on a tip-off, a team from Komakhan Police Station set up a vehicle-checking barrier at Temri village. When police signalled a white SUV coming from Odisha to stop, the driver sped through the barricade in an attempt to escape.
The police chased the vehicle and intercepted it at the Komakhan crossing on NH-353. During the search, officers recovered 114 kg of ganja concealed inside the vehicle’s boot.
The total value of the seized items—including the ganja, the SUV worth ₹15 lakh, three mobile phones worth ₹30,000, and ₹2 lakh in cash—is estimated at ₹74.30 lakh.
The arrested accused have been identified as Nagraj Pardhi (26), Dinesh Mali (28), and Satpal Singh (38), all residents of Shirpur, Dhule district, Maharashtra.
During interrogation, the accused told police they had procured the contraband from Baliguda, Odisha, and were transporting it to Nardana in Dhule for distribution.
Police have registered a case under Sections 20(B)(II)(C) and 29 of the NDPS Act, and a further investigation is in progress.
