Chhattisgarh has sufficient petrol and diesel stock: Food Secretary Reena Babasaheb Kangale

Raipur: The Chhattisgarh government has clarified that there is no fuel shortage in the state and dismissed reports of scarcity as rumours.
Food Secretary Reena Babasaheb Kangale on Thursday appealed to citizens to avoid panic buying and not to believe misleading information circulating in some areas.
She said the state government and oil companies are jointly ensuring smooth and regular fuel supply at all petrol pumps across Chhattisgarh.
According to official data, the state currently has a stock of 45,474 kilolitres of petrol and 84,654 kilolitres of diesel.
In comparison, the daily consumption is:
- Petrol: 3,635 kilolitres
- Diesel: 5,873 kilolitres
She added that oil depots are continuously supplying fuel as per requirement, while the food department is monitoring the distribution system closely.
Temporary dry-outs at some fuel pumps
Out of 2,516 petrol pumps in the state, a small number have reported temporary stock shortages.
- In Raipur, 35 out of 326 pumps are currently dry
- In Bilaspur, 13 out of 156 pumps are temporarily out of stock
The administration has instructed oil companies to immediately speed up supply to these locations.
Demand surge due to rumours
Officials said that panic buying triggered by rumours over the past two days led to an artificial shortage at some outlets.
“This situation has arisen only due to a sudden spike in demand. There is no actual shortage in the state,” the Food Secretary said.
Reena Babasaheb Kangale urged people not to hoard fuel and assured that the administration is working with oil companies to maintain a steady and uninterrupted supply across all districts.
