BJP Slams Congress Over Alleged Links With Raipur Jail Firing Accused

Raipur
The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has strongly criticized the Congress after a photo surfaced showing Raipur Mayor Aijaz Dhebar with a fugitive accused in the recent firing incident outside Raipur Central Jail. BJP state general secretary Sanjay Srivastava questioned Congress’s alleged ties with criminals and called on state Congress president Deepak Baij and former Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel to address the matter.

Srivastava pointed out that individuals linked to Congress and its affiliated groups in Chhattisgarh are repeatedly being found involved in criminal, violent, and divisive activities, further exposing what he termed Congress’s “criminal face.” He asserted that Congress’s election symbol, the “hand,” is being “misused” to support criminals, with Congress leaders allegedly connected to suspects in incidents across the state, including violence in Surajpur, Balrampur, and Baloda Bazar.

Referring to the recent gang war outside Central Jail, Srivastava noted that while two suspects were apprehended, the third fugitive, now linked to Dhebar, remains at large. He questioned why Congress leaders are often seen associating with criminals and alleged that Congress’s focus seems to be on fostering chaos to discredit the BJP-led government in Chhattisgarh.

The BJP’s accusation has intensified political tensions in the state, with the BJP urging Congress to clarify its stance on law and order in Chhattisgarh.

Meanwhile, Congress said that  one of the main accused in yesterday’s shooting incident, Shahrukh, has reportedly been on the run since June after escaping from a juvenile correctional facility. The accused had been roaming freely in the city for over four months and has now committed such a major crime, said Congress Communication Department Head Sushil Anand Shukla in response to BJP’s attack.
