World Tribal Day: Chief Minister gives community forest resources rights for Achanakmar and Udanti Tiger Reserve

Raipur: Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel took distributed community forest resources right letters to Achanakmar and Udanti tiger reserves in the program organized at the Chief Minister’s residence on Tuesday to mark the occasion of World Tribal Day.  Under the Forest Rights Act, 2006, the two big Tiger Reserves of the state were given community forest resources rights letters in the core and buffer areas of 10 Gram Sabhas.  This includes 5 gram sabhas of Achanakmar Tiger Reserve and 5 gram sabhas of Sitanadi Udanti area.

The 5 Gram Sabhas of Achanakmar Tiger reserve that have been given rights fall in the ​​Mungeli district, out of which 4 villages are core and 1 village is buffer area, in which rights have been given for 1384.056 hectares in Mahamai Gram Sabha, 1191.6 hectares of land in Babotola Gram Sabha, 1663 hectares of Bamhani Gram sabha, 3240 hectares of Katami Gram Sabha and 661.74 hectares of Manzoorha gram sabha.

For the first time in the state, in Sitanadi Udanti Tiger Reserve, community forest resource rights have been jointly recognized in three gram sabhas namely, Likhma, Baniyadih, Mainpur in 1811.53 hectares of land in Dhamtari district. It is noteworthy that since many years, their traditional boundaries were the same, but due to the increase in population, they were divided into three villages, so under the Recognition of Forest Rights Act 2006, they were put together with the intention to conserve, promote, preserve and manage the resources.
