Hotel owners told to step up security, follow norms

Raipur:
Maudhapara police on Thursday convened a meeting of hotel and lodge owners to review law and order and crime prevention measures in the area.

Authorities instructed hotel operators to ensure strict identity verification of every guest by obtaining valid ID documents. Operators must maintain both physical registers and digital records for all visitors. Police also directed that no rooms be provided to individuals without ID or those appearing suspicious.

Key directives for hotel management

  • Entry and exit logs: Managers must record accurate timings for all guests.
  • Physical verification: Mandatory verification of customers booking rooms through online platforms.
  • Foreign nationals: Timely reporting of foreign citizens as per legal provisions.
  • Surveillance: Installation of sufficient CCTV cameras, ensuring they remain operational with at least 30 days backup.
  • Fire safety: Functional fire alarms, extinguishers, and accessible emergency exits at all times.

Inspector Singh emphasized the need for police verification of all hotel staff. Security must also be ensured in parking areas and surroundings to prevent unauthorised entry.

Police have strictly prohibited minors from staying alone in hotels. Operators were warned to curb illegal activities such as prostitution, gambling, and drug use on their premises.

The Raipur Police Commissionerate stated that the meeting, held under the guidance of the DCP Central Zone, aims to strengthen public confidence in local security. Authorities warned of strict legal action against those failing to comply, and urged immediate reporting of any suspicious activity to the police helpline.
