Third Visit in a Month

This marks Amit Shah’s third visit to Chhattisgarh in a month. Earlier, he had visited the state to attend the Rajyotsav (State Formation Day) celebrations and the All-India Director General of Police (DGP) – Inspector General of Police (IGP) Conference.

During each visit, Home Minister Shah reviews anti-Naxal operations and encounters, and takes direct feedback from senior security officials.

Surrendered Naxals Take Part

Around 3,500 youths participated in the Bastar Olympic divisional event, competing in football, kabaddi, volleyball, and athletics. Participants represented all seven districts of the Bastar divisionDantewada, Bijapur, Bastar, Sukma, Narayanpur, Kanker, and Kondagaon.

In a notable development, nearly 761 surrendered Naxals and members of Naxal-violence-affected families also took part in the games, forming a team named ‘Nua Baat’ (New Way). This is a significant increase from last year’s figure of around 300 participants.

Home Minister Amit Shah is scheduled to meet the surrendered Naxals at the event venue.
