BJP Sweeps Chhattisgarh Urban Body Elections, Congress Faces Setback

Raipur: In a resounding victory, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has dominated the Chhattisgarh urban body elections, securing a clean sweep in municipal corporations and a majority in municipal councils and nagar panchayats. The results mark a significant setback for Congress, which managed to secure only a limited number of seats across urban local bodies.

BJP’s Continued Dominance, Congress’s Decline

The election results reaffirm BJP’s stronghold over Chhattisgarh’s urban political landscape, particularly after its assembly election victory. Congress, once a dominant force in urban areas, is now struggling to retain ground in municipal politics.

With a clean sweep in municipal corporations and a majority in councils and panchayats, BJP’s success reflects a continued shift in voter preference toward the ruling party. The performance of independent candidates and AAP’s breakthrough indicate a gradual change in the state’s urban political dynamics.
