350 Engineering Students Complete IIIT-Naya Raipur’s 45-Day Vocational Training

Raipur: Dr Shyama Prasad Mukherjee International Institute of Information Technology, Naya Raipur (IIIT-NR) concluded its 45-day Vocational Training Program (VT-2026) with a valedictory ceremony at the institute auditorium on Saturday.

The two-phase, skill-focused programme trained more than 350 engineering students from across the country in five technology domains — Next-Generation AI, AI Foundations, Agentic AI, Cyber Security, and VLSI & Semiconductor Technology. The programme placed strong emphasis on practical skills and industry interaction.

The valedictory ceremony featured a hackathon organised by the institute’s AI Centre of Excellence (AI-CoE), where participants presented their capstone projects before industry and academic experts.

Top cash prizes in four technical tracks were won by Anandita Indurkhya, Astha Shrivastava and Aayush Kumar for “Explainable AI Based Brain Tumor Classification and MRI Monitoring”; Piyush Sahu, Niyati Mandavi and Nidhi Ranjan for “ChainGuard: Secure AI-Based Exam Paper Integrity”; Tvishmay Choudhary, R. Rishita, Shradha Kushwaha and Rohan Kumar Sahu for “VectorCore”; and Souvhagya Dev, Sarthak Kumar and Subodh Kumar Sahu for “Jeevan Setu”.

The programme included expert sessions with professionals from Celonis India, Microsoft Bengaluru, MathWorks India and GE Healthcare Bengaluru, along with Prof. Rajkumar Buyya of the University of Melbourne.

IIIT-NR Director Prof. (Dr.) Om Prakash Vyas said that knowledge alone is not sufficient and students must learn to apply it to real-world problems. He said hands-on programmes help bridge the gap between classroom learning and workplace requirements.

Vyas added that the AI Centre of Excellence (AI-CoE), established by the Union government, aims to upskill youth in Artificial Intelligence, facilitate AI integration in government systems, and expand technology training across Central India.

The programme was coordinated by Dean (Academics) Prof. K.G. Srinivasa, Dean (R&I) Dr Mithilesh K. Chaubey, and Programme Coordinator Dr Anurag Singh.
