Chhattisgarh to Adopt Assam-Like Anti-Naxal Policy, Aims to Eradicate Naxalism by 2026

Raipur: The anti-Naxal policy in Chhattisgarh will be similar to that of Assam. To study this, Home Minister Vijay Sharma visited Assam, where he gathered information from officials about the surrender of insurgents and the facilities being provided to affected families. The Chhattisgarh government is expected to introduce its new Naxal policy by the end of October or during the Rajyotsav celebrations on November 1.
Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Vishnudeo Sai shared this information with Union Home Minister Amit Shah during a meeting in Delhi. The key point discussed between the two leaders was how to meet the target of completely eliminating Naxalites from Chhattisgarh by March 2026.
31 Naxalites Killed in Recent Operation Since January, 194 Naxalites have been killed in encounters in Chhattisgarh, according to government data. In addition, 801 Naxalites have been arrested, and 742 have surrendered. The government claims that major actions have been taken against Naxalites in the past nine months, showing a scale of operations not seen before.
“Abandon Violence, We Will Provide Housing and Jobs” Regarding the new Naxal policy, the Chief Minister stated that the benefits of central and state government schemes would be extended to surrendering Naxalites and families affected by violence. He urged young people still involved in Naxalism to abandon their weapons and join the mainstream. Those who surrender will be provided with good facilities.
Chhattisgarh Home Minister Vijay Sharma also visited Assam to study their rehabilitation policy. The message to the Naxalites is to abandon the language of bullets and surrender, and they will be provided housing under the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana and employment opportunities. The Chief Minister recently visited Bijapur, where appointment letters were handed to 70 people from Naxal-affected families, providing them with jobs.
Surgical Strikes Against Naxalites to Intensify During the meeting between Amit Shah and CM Sai, it was indicated that the Chhattisgarh police will continue with aggressive operations against Naxalites, similar to how the army conducted surgical strikes in Pakistan. Local police and paramilitary forces will increase such actions in the coming days.
The state government informed Amit Shah that it has shifted from a defensive policy to an aggressive one. In the coming days, 29 new security camps will be established in South Bastar, specifically in villages considered Naxalite strongholds. The Chhattisgarh government explained that this strategy is aimed at ending the influence of Naxalites.
Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Sai also met Prime Minister Narendra Modi and briefed him on the operations against Naxalites. The Chief Minister emphasized that the state government’s primary goal is to eliminate the remaining Naxalite strongholds and ensure lasting peace and development in these areas.
