Union Home Minister Amit Shah declared that Naxalism is almost eradicated nationwide, with a lingering presence in Chhattisgarh. He attributed the delay in resolving the issue to the previous government’s inadequate efforts. Shah assured swift action under PM Modi’s leadership, emphasizing the BJP’s commitment to eliminating Maoists in Chhattisgarh.
Union Home Minister Amit Shah announced today that Naxalism has been nearly wiped out across the nation, with only a small presence remaining in Chhattisgarh. Shah expressed confidence that this lingering issue would be swiftly resolved if the Modi government continues to lead the country. ‘Only a small fraction of the Maoist problem persists in Chhattisgarh. The delay in addressing this issue was due to the previous Bhupesh Baghel government’s inadequate efforts in tackling Naxalism,’ Shah stated during an election rally in Khairagarh, within the Rajnandgaon Lok Sabha constituency. Shah, while campaigning for BJP candidate Santosh Pandey, assured the audience that under Prime Minister Modi’s leadership, the remaining Maoists in Chhattisgarh would be eradicated, ensuring the state’s freedom from their threat. He commended Chief Minister Vishnu Deo Sai and Deputy Chief Minister Vijay Sharma for their collaborative efforts, resulting in the elimination of 54 Maoists, over 150 arrests, and more than 250 surrenders in a short time frame. Shah also criticized the Congress party for spreading misinformation, referencing Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge’s false claims regarding PM Modi’s stance on reservation and the Constitution. He reassured the people of Chhattisgarh, ‘Reservation for Dalits, STs, and backward classes will be safeguarded under our government.’ Taking a swipe at former Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel, Shah remarked, ‘Despite engaging in corruption, Bhupesh ‘Kaka’ remains unsatisfied and aspires to become an MP.’ He urged the residents of Rajnandgaon to defeat Baghel by a significant margin in the upcoming elections. Shah exposed various scandals during the Bhupesh government’s tenure, including the PSC, Gothan, Vermi compost, and Mahadev scams, questioning the suitability of such a candidate. Encouraging the people of Khairagarh to vote for the BJP, Shah highlighted the positive changes in Kashmir post the abrogation of Article 370, emphasizing the region’s restored peace and its integral status within India. Shah advocated for ‘one nation, one election’ and the Uniform Civil Code (UCC), affirming the BJP’s endorsement of these initiatives. He announced free healthcare up to Rs 5 lakh for elderly citizens above 70 and reiterated the party’s commitment to providing affordable gas, healthcare, and empowering women economically. Additionally, Shah praised the BJP’s efforts in constructing the Ram temple, from the groundbreaking ceremony to the ongoing construction, and criticized the Congress for delaying this project. He underscored the Modi government’s accomplishments, such as toilet construction in 38 lakh households and the plan to build 18 lakh houses in Chhattisgarh under the Vishnu Deo Sai administration. Chief Minister Vishnu Deo Sai echoed Shah’s sentiments, assuring that the BJP would prevent the Congress from gaining a foothold in Chhattisgarh due to the previous government’s corruption and betrayal of public trust.
