Bilaspur Transfer 23 Suspected Illegal Immigrants to Raipur Detention Facility

Bilaspur

Police have detained 23 individuals residing in the Sirgitti area without valid identification documents and transferred them to a detention centre in Raipur for detailed verification. Authorities suspect that some of them may be illegal foreign nationals from Bangladesh.

The action was taken as part of a special drive to identify illegal foreign nationals. Following directions from the state government, Bilaspur SSP and DIG Rajnesh Singh formed a Special Task Force (STF) to verify the identity and documents of suspected individuals residing in the district.

During the initial investigation, the 23 individuals had submitted documents showing addresses in Murshidabad and Jangipur districts of West Bengal. A special team of Bilaspur Police travelled to West Bengal to verify the addresses with the concerned local police stations.

The verification revealed that several of the addresses were incorrect or non-existent. Following the findings, police detained the 23 individuals and transferred them to the Raipur detention centre, where authorities will conduct a detailed inquiry into their citizenship, identity and place of origin.

SSP Rajnesh Singh confirmed that a special police team had visited West Bengal to verify the addresses mentioned in the documents. Since the claimed addresses could not be validated, the individuals were moved to the detention facility.

Further legal action will be taken based on the final verification report.

Police have also issued a helpline number 1800-233-1905 for citizens to report information about suspicious individuals or persons living without valid identification documents.
