Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel on Thursday lashed out at the Enforcement Director (ED) accusing the central agency of ‘making an attempt’ to add his name to the liquor scam, exposing the nexus between the ED and distillers. The Chief Minister said that the Anti-corruption Bureau of the state government will now investigate the matter.
The Chief Minister stated this while talking to reporters after his arrival in Raipur from Himachal on Thursday.
The Chief Minister said that the ED is working by creating bogus case. “We have already said that the ED is working as agent of BJP and it is proved. Now efforts are being made to link my name in scams. BJP sees ED as its subordinate institution,” said the Chief Minister.
He said that there has been a nexus between ED and distillers. Because even after selling liquor without paying excise duty, no action was taken against the distillers.
BJP is saving the distillers, it seems, said the Chief Minister. He said that the ACB would investigate the matter to clear the air. “We are taking advice from legal experts, soon action will be taken in this direction,” he said.
The chief minister’s statement came after Anwar Dhebar, who has been arrested by the ED in the Rs 2000 crore liquor scam, threatened in the Raipur local court of committing suicide as the ED is pressurizing him to name the Chief Minister and his family.
Dhebar accused the ED of harassing him and threatened to commit suicide. “If this continues, I will commit suicide and ED will be responsible for that,” he said in the court. On Wednesday, the court extended the remand of Anwar Dhebar by 5 more days. However, the court has also given permission to meet the family members during this period.
On Karnataka election’s exit polls, Bhupesh Baghel said that it was known from the beginning in Karnataka that the government with 40 percent commission of Bharatiya Janata Party is facing a crushing defeat.
Regarding the marathon meetings being held by Kumari Selja the in-charge of Congress in Chhattisgarh, Baghel said, there is an election discussion.
