One youth drowned in an anicut in Raipur, and search operations were underway for another who was missing. On Sunday, two youths had gone for a picnic with friends to the anicut built on the Kharun River near Kushabhau Journalism University.
They all entered the Kharun River to bathe. During this, Arjun Yadav (18) and Bhupesh lost their balance and drowned. People informed the Mujgahan police station about the incident. After a search operation by the State Disaster Response Force (SDRF), Arjun’s body was recovered. The search for Bhupesh continues.
Mujgahan police reported that the incident occurred on Sunday. Due to darkness, the rescue operation could not begin that day, but the search resumed the following morning. Arjun’s body has been found. His family members have been informed. Arjun was a resident of New Raipur, and Bhupesh was from Labhandi.
Police said Arjun’s body has been recovered and sent for postmortem. A case of accidental death has been registered, and further investigation is underway. The family members have been notified. Meanwhile, the search for Bhupesh continues.
