Sonmoni Borah, an IAS officer from the 1999 batch, who recently returned from central deputation, has been appointed by the state government as the Principal Secretary of the Department of Tribal Welfare, Scheduled Caste Development Department, and Backward Classes and Minority Welfare Department.
Until now, this department was under the supervision of Narendra Dugga. In addition to being the Secretary, Dugga also held the responsibility of Commissioner Tribal. Following Borah’s appointment as the Principal Secretary of this department, Dugga’s responsibility for Tribal, Scheduled Caste, and Backward Class Welfare will come to an end. He will only retain the charge of Commissioner Tribal.
