Raipur
In a series of successful operations targeting drug trafficking, Raipur Police have made significant strides in curbing the illegal drug supply chain. Over the past 10 days of February, the police have apprehended 26 individuals in connection with 18 cases under the Narcotics Act. Out of these arrests, 10 are linked to interstate drug trafficking activities.
The arrested individuals were found to be part of a network involved in the supply of drugs originating from states such as Odisha, Maharashtra, Madhya Pradesh, Delhi, and Punjab. Various substances including MDMA drugs, opium, narcotic syrup/tablets, cannabis, and illicit liquor have been seized from the accused.
Raipur Police, under the directive of Superintendent Santosh Singh, have launched extensive operations and awareness campaigns against drug abuse. Teams comprising officers from all police stations along with the Anti-Crime and Cyber Crime Unit have been relentlessly conducting operations to combat the menace of drug trafficking.
Special emphasis has been placed on enforcing the Narcotics Act, with the formation of a dedicated team for this purpose. Station in-charges have been instructed to take stern action against those involved in the sale and distribution of drugs.
In recent raids conducted by Raipur Police, 16 individuals involved in drug sales have been apprehended, leading to the gathering of crucial information about their supply networks. Specialized teams from the Anti-Crime and Cyber Crime Unit are conducting technical analysis and surveillance to track down individuals involved in drug supply.
Further interrogation and technical analysis have resulted in the arrest of 10 interstate drug traffickers operating in Raipur. These traffickers were responsible for supplying drugs to various parts of the city from states like Odisha, Maharashtra, Madhya Pradesh, Uttar Pradesh, and Delhi. Substantial quantities of drugs, including cannabis, MDMA, opium, and banned narcotic syrup, have been seized from them.
In separate cases, individuals involved in the illegal supply of banned narcotic codeine syrup have also been arrested. Investigations revealed their involvement in sourcing the substance from other states and distributing it in Raipur.
Raipur Police are leaving no stone unturned in their efforts to combat drug trafficking and abuse. Alongside their crackdown on drug-related activities, the police have also taken strict action against illegal transportation and consumption of liquor in public places. Numerous individuals have been arrested under relevant sections of the Excise Act, and significant quantities of illicit liquor have been seized.
With these relentless efforts, Raipur Police are sending a strong message against drug trafficking and substance abuse, ensuring the safety and well-being of the community.
