PM-SVANidhi and DAY-NULM Schemes Propel Urban Poor Toward Self-Reliance, Says CM Vishnu Deo Sai

Chief Minister Vishnu Deo Sai underscored the pivotal role of street vendors and women’s self-help groups in bolstering the nation’s economy. He highlighted the transformative impact of the PM-SVANidhi scheme, which has empowered street vendors, and the DAY-NULM initiative, which has fostered entrepreneurial growth among women.
Speaking at a felicitation ceremony organized by the State Urban Development Agency (SUDA) under the Urban Administration and Development Department at Pandit Deendayal Upadhyay Auditorium in Raipur, the Chief Minister honored municipal bodies, banks, beneficiaries, and street vendors for their exemplary contributions to these schemes.
The event saw the attendance of Deputy Chief Minister Arun Sao, Forest Minister and Raipur District In-Charge Kedar Kashyap, MLA Motilal Sahu, and other dignitaries.
CM Sai acknowledged the critical contributions of street vendors who provide quality products at affordable prices. He lauded the PM-SVANidhi scheme for offering financial support without guarantors, easy monthly installments, and interest subsidies, enabling vendors to achieve self-reliance.
The Chief Minister praised the DAY-NULM initiative for extending low-interest loans to women’s self-help groups, empowering thousands of women entrepreneurs in Chhattisgarh.
Chhattisgarh and four of its urban bodies were honored with the SPARK Award 2023-24 by the Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs for outstanding urban development initiatives.
PM-SVANidhi Scheme: Rs 184.98 crore disbursed to 88,498 street vendors.
DAY-NULM: Rs 30.34 crore revolving funds provided to 30,347 women’s self-help groups.
Focus on Urban Poor:
The Chief Minister emphasized the need for regular monitoring of shelters for the urban homeless, reflecting the government’s commitment to inclusive urban development.
Deputy CM Arun Sao highlighted the life-changing benefits of these schemes for low-income families, enabling sustainable livelihoods through small businesses.
Forest Minister Kedar Kashyap reiterated the government’s focus on urban amenities and livelihood opportunities, emphasizing that empowering the underprivileged will strengthen Chhattisgarh.
The Chief Minister launched short films on key government programs, including the PM-SVANidhi and DAY-NULM schemes, while also visiting an exhibition showcasing the achievements of beneficiaries.
The event witnessed participation from key officials, including Raipur Collector Dr. Gaurav Singh, Municipal Corporation Commissioner Abhinash Mishra, SUDA CEO Shashank Pandey, bankers, and a large number of beneficiaries.
