Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Vishnu Deo Sai hit back at Congress leader Rahul Gandhi on Thursday over allegations directed at the Election Commission, stating that the opposition party seeks excuses after every electoral defeat instead of introspecting on its leadership and policies.
Sai’s comments came in response to Gandhi’s press conference in New Delhi on Thursday, where the Congress leader alleged irregularities in recent Lok Sabha and Assembly elections, specifically pointing to results in Madhya Pradesh and Chhattisgarh.
“When Congress wins, it finds EVMs working fine. When it loses, it blames the voting machines, SIR, and now the Election Commission,” Sai told reporters here. “Victory and defeat are part of democracy. The party that receives the mandate governs, while those who lose must work to regain public trust instead of repeatedly questioning democratic institutions.”
Slamming former Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel for his remarks on BJP’s newly appointed Chhattisgarh in-charge Smriti Irani, Sai suggested Baghel focus on his own political standing, noting that voters in Punjab had already rejected him.
