Traffic on the Raipur–Durg National Highway faced severe disruptions on Friday following heavy waterlogging in the Chandandih area near the Kumhari overbridge.
To ease traffic pressure and ensure safe passage for commuters, Durg traffic police have diverted vehicles to alternative routes. Heavy vehicles travelling from Rajnandgaon to Raipur must go via the Anjora bypass, Pulgaon Chowk, Anda, Risama, Gadadih, Marra, Jamgaon (M), Motipur, and Amleshwar. Heavy vehicles heading towards Raipur from Balod have been routed via Anda, Risama, Gadadih, Marra, Jamgaon (M), Motipur, and Amleshwar.
Vehicles proceeding to Raipur from Transport Nagar, Bhilai, or the National Highway must take the Ahirwara bend, Kumhari, Murmunda Chowk, Kocheband, Malpuri Kala, Bbalesar, Kandarka Chowk, Pathridih, Urla, and Birgaon route. Employees of Bhilai Steel Plant travelling to Raipur have been advised to use the Utai–Selud–Phunda–Motipur route.
Durg police have advised citizens to factor in extra travel time before leaving home, follow diversion directives, and avoid the affected stretches to prevent congestion.
