Harish Duhan Takes Charge as CMD of SECL

Bilaspur: Harish Duhan has officially assumed charge as the Chairman-cum-Managing Director (CMD) of South Eastern Coalfields Limited (SECL) on March 26, 2025. On his arrival at the SECL Headquarters on March 27, he was accorded a Guard of Honour by the SECL Security Contingent. He was warmly welcomed by the Functional Directors, Chief Vigilance Officer (CVO), and Heads of Departments (HoDs) of SECL.
Prior to his appointment as CMD of SECL, Duhan served as Director Technical (Operations) at Central Coalfields Limited (CCL). His name was recommended for the top position at SECL by the Public Enterprises Selection Board (PESB), Government of India, in December 2024.
With an experience of over 34 years in the mining sector, Duhan has played a key role in implementing First Mile Connectivity (FMC) projects, digitization initiatives, and the development of solar projects under Coal India Limited.
An alumnus of Nagpur University, Duhan holds a Bachelor’s degree in Mining Engineering. He started his career with Coal India Limited in 1989 at Western Coalfields and has since served in various leadership roles, including Area General Manager of Nigahi Project and General Manager of Corporate Project Planning at Northern Coalfields Limited (NCL). He also holds a First Class Mine Manager Certificate and a Post Graduate Diploma in Management.
With his vast industry expertise and strategic vision, Duhan is expected to lead SECL towards higher coal production, technological advancements, and sustainable growth.
