Durg Police cracks blind murder case in hours; two accused arrested in Pulgaon woman killing

Raipur

Durg Police said it solved the murder of Bhagwanti Sahu in Pulgaon within hours and arrested two suspects, identified as Harsh Yadav (19) of Pisegaon and Nitesh Thakur (20) of Chandkhuri, both under Pulgaon Police Station limits. According to the police, the woman went missing on July 16 after leaving home for wage work, and her body was later found near the Pulgaon Nala Flyover. Injuries on her head, face, and left hand indicated homicide.

The police said the breakthrough came through on-ground inspection, CCTV analysis, witness questioning, and technical investigation. During interrogation, the accused allegedly admitted that they lured the woman with money, took her to a secluded spot in an e-rickshaw, attempted to sexually assault her, and killed her when she resisted and threatened to report the matter to police.

Investigators said Harsh Yadav allegedly strangled the victim with a towel, while Nitesh Thakur repeatedly struck her on the head and face with a boulder. Both allegedly changed their clothes and tried to destroy evidence after the crime. Police later recovered the boulder, the clothes worn during the incident, and other material evidence, and produced both accused in court under Section 103(1) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS).

Police Action

Police said the case was registered as Crime No. 653/2026 at Pulgaon Police Station after the post-mortem confirmed murder. The accused were arrested and sent to judicial custody, while further legal and investigative proceedings are underway.
