Collector-SP Ride Bikes Through Hills to Reach Remote Sukma Villages, Hold Chaupal Under Tamarind Tree

Raipur: Under the state government’s Sushasan Tihar 2026 campaign, the Sukma district administration on Wednesday reached the remote forest villages of Gonderas and Nilavaya, where Collector Amit Kumar and SP Kiran Chavan travelled nearly 30 km on motorcycles through difficult hilly terrain to connect directly with villagers.
The administration is delivering benefits of 31 individual schemes and 14 community facilities to people in interior areas through the campaign. The visit aimed to strengthen grassroots governance and ensure direct communication between officials and villagers.
Immediate Solutions in Gonderas
In Gonderas, the Collector and SP interacted with villagers while sitting on traditional cots under a tamarind tree. Taking serious note of complaints regarding faulty solar plates, the Collector instructed the CREDA department to carry out immediate repairs in all affected houses.
Collector Amit Kumar also sanctioned ₹70 lakh for construction of an Anganwadi centre and Panchayat building. The Gram Panchayat has been made the executing agency for the works to ensure transparency and faster completion.
During the camp, officials distributed 17 Kisan Credit Cards, 12 caste certificates, and approved 11 PM-Kisan cases. Villagers also received two Kisan Kitabs and two Patwari reports on the spot.
Relief for Nilavaya Villagers
In Nilavaya, officials conducted a public meeting and listened to local grievances. To end the annual hardship caused by monsoon flooding, the Collector sanctioned construction of a culvert over a local stream, which will eliminate a 15-km detour faced by villagers during rains.
The administration also directed local officials to ensure safe institutional deliveries for pregnant women. Four cataract patients were referred to the district hospital for treatment, while 22 birth certificates were issued during the camp.
Officials also organised a ‘Godh Bharai’ ceremony for two pregnant women as part of the outreach programme.
Focus on Ground-Level Governance
Collector Amit Kumar informed villagers that under the Niyad Nellanar (Your Good Village) scheme, the government is working towards 100% electricity, drinking water and healthcare coverage in remote areas.
He said making the Panchayat the construction agency would help improve transparency and speed up development works.
Village Sarpanch Joga Vanjami described the visit as historic and said, “This is the first time a Collector has reached our village on a motorcycle. We are hopeful our problems will now be heard.”
