In response to the ongoing heatwave, the Chhattisgarh government has revised the summer vacation schedule for schools. With temperatures reaching 43–44 degrees Celsius over the past three days, summer break will now begin earlier — from April 25 to June 15, instead of the previously planned May 1 to June 15.
The revised schedule applies to all schools across the state, including government, government-aided, and private institutions. The School Education Department announced the change on Tuesday, citing the extreme heat and its potential health risks to students in the coming days.
