Chhattisgarh Armed Forces Company Commander killed by Maoists in Bijapur

Raipur
In a tragic incident on Sunday, a company commander of the Chhattisgarh Armed Force (CAF) was killed in a Maoist attack in Bijapur district. Tijau Ram Bhuvriya, serving as Company Commander for CAF, led a team from the 4th Battalion into the jungle for a routine log collection mission.
During their operation in the jungle, the commander and a constable became separated from their team, finding themselves 200 meters away when the Maoists launched their attack around 9:30 am.
Exploiting the situation, two Maoists who had been lurking in the jungle ambushed the company commander with axes, resulting in fatal injuries. Fortunately, the constable accompanying the commander managed to escape.
Following the attack, additional forces were deployed into the jungle to secure the area.
It is noteworthy that the Maoist organization, Dandakaranya Special Zonal Committee, responded to Deputy Chief Minister Vijay Sharma’s proposal for virtual talks by releasing a letter on February eighth, expressing their willingness to engage in dialogue. In the letter, the Maoists emphasized the need for a conducive environment for talks, calling for an end to the killings of tribals in fake encounters and cross-firings. They further demanded that all armed forces be confined to barracks and camps for a period of six months, cessation of new camp establishments, and the release of political prisoners. Should the government accept these terms, they are prepared to commence discussions.
