Raipur
Amid rising tensions between India and Pakistan, the Central Government has issued guidelines to all states and directed them to invoke emergency powers under the Civil Defence Rules, 1968, if necessary.
Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Vishnu Deo Sai responded to the development, stating, “A mock drill was conducted in Durg in accordance with the Centre’s instructions. We will fully comply with any future directives from the Central Government. The state is fully prepared to handle any situation.”
Following the recent terrorist attack in Pahalgam, Jammu and Kashmir, India launched Operation Sindoor, targeting and destroying several terror camps in Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Jammu and Kashmir (POJK). In retaliation, Pakistan has reportedly launched drone and missile strikes on civilian and military areas in Jammu, Punjab, Gujarat, and Rajasthan.
As of last night, multiple bombings were reported across various locations, resulting in the deaths of an administrative officer in Jammu and three civilians. Additionally, there has been a visible build-up of Pakistani troops along the border. In response, the Indian Army continues to strongly counter these attacks.
In view of the escalating hostilities, the Government of India on Friday instructed all states and union territories to be prepared to use emergency powers as per the Civil Defence Rules, 1968.
